A good start.

You have the beginnings of a great game here, but it still needs much work. I agree that you need some more items for NUB to interact with. Maybe some enemies or gun turrets or something like that would be good.

I also found the game to be a little sluggish on my PII 300. On low quality it was okay.

I think the disappearing blocks should disappear quicker too. They were very easy to work around and didn't make the levels very much harder to me.

A good game with room to grow.

Wow! Good job on this game. You have obviously spent a good chunk of time building this and it's really looking great.

I did notice a few things that you might want to check on:

1. It's pretty slow on older machines. I have a PII 300 (I know, I know it's completely ancient and obsolete) and even in low quality the game speed was pretty laggy. Must be lots of Actionscript beng run here. Perhaps you can optimize it some? There will likely be other people on slow machines who will be less forgiving.

2. Bullets tend go through the ground. Although that can be advantageous, it will also detract from the game somewhat in terms of people's expectations.

3. I noticed that you can keep killing the dead soldiers. Maybe you should fade them out and move them off screen or removeMovieClip() them.

4. My arms and gun didn't keep up with my body very well when jumping. They tended to lag behind a little bit so I looked like Plasticman a lot.

5. Maybe this was the end of level, I'm not sure, but after killing the helicopter, the world ended and I fell off into nothingness ... and then appeared at the top of the screen. Kinda odd.

Don't take all this as bad news. This is a great game that I will have to play on my faster desktop when I get a chance. You have really started something good. I hope you keep working on it and complete it soon. You've done a fantastic job thus far.

A well done 3 card Monty game.

This was a good idea for a game and I liked the variety you added with different cup combinations, and the magnets. I think yoiu have a definite solid base for a more polished up game.

Here are some things I would like to see added:

1. Sounds would add a whole new dimension to this game. It seems really lacking without them.

2. How about more than three cups? In fact, I expected this because the help mentioned something about >3 cups, but it never happened. Did I just not get far enough?

3. I found most levels to be pretty easy because as long as I tracked which cup is in which "z" layer, spotting the right one is not too hard. How about having the cups move on the z axis also? If they move from behind to in front of each other and vice versa, that might make it too hard if used incorrectly, but may make it a little more challenging if done right.

All in all, it is a solid game and I like it. Keep plugging away!

Certainly not an RPG.

I was disappointed by this "game". I think it could definitely bcome an RPG, but you don't even have any sort of "real" interactivity in here. It's just a bunch of buttons and scenes. Heck, it's not even choose your own adventure caliber yet.

I'm sorry to sound so negative about your movie, but that is what I see. If you want to make an RPG, you need stats, skills, equipment and whatnot. Simply stringing together several animated scenes is not going to cut it.

If you want to call this a movie, then I think you may get higher marks. At least then you won't be lying ... even if it isn't intentional.

Simple and addictive.

This is a great game!

It really doesn't need anything added because it is alredy quite well done, but I can see potential for lots of additional features. Things like taller buildings, or varied terrain would be cool. Maybe the levels could be 12 hours of night stretch and when the sun starts to come up, you've completed it. Maye Santa has quotas for presents and bombs to deliver to houses? If unmet, no bonus is given for the level.

Despite my desire to always add more and more features, this game is alreadt quite polished.

Oh, I did note two bugs. 1) At the end the accuracy only shows up for a single frame. 2) once, after releasing a bevy of bombs, something happened and I couldn't bomb anymore.

A good solid gaming experience.

Well done. I liked this version of Space Invaders. The classic sounds were pretty nostalgic and a nice touch too.

This was definitely laggy on my PII 300, but not so much as to be unplayable. I don't suppose a "change quality" option would fix that either. I'm guessing it's more of an issue with running a lot of Actionscript than the number of clips on the screen.

Keep up the good work. Oh and let me know if you figure out how to get high score lists working on Newgrounds. My game, "Lander II - Lunar Rescue", has that problem as well. :-(

XSDSX responds:

Yes, I have no idea why Newgrounds prohibits the access of a remote server, it makes no sense. My only possible reasoning is that they have some sort of firewall that prevents this. I'm probably completely off, but I still can't see why it shouldn't work. By the way, Lunar II is and excellent game, very well done. A lot better than mine :)

This is a demo?

I think this flash has some potential, but I am sorry to say that I don't get it. Yeah, I know you don't want to hear that, but it's true.

This demo seems to lack anything in the way of gameplay. Unless I missed something, it's more of an interactive storyline. Just pressing an action button to see the next bit of animation is not a game, IMHO.

Anyhow, if you plan to add the ability to target the boyfriends, that'd be a welcome addition. Maybe a helth meter or something about them fighting back? Just some ideas.

Highly repetitive and really not much fun.

Although I think you may have something here once some more work is put into it, so far this flash has very little going for it.

It is incredibly repetitive, and the art is not very well done. Most of the animation needs work (unless this is the style you are really looking for, which I doubt) andt the sound needs compression big time. Why did I download 1.8MB for this when about 2-300Kb would have done the job?

Shooting through the wall is an interesting touch, but unfortunately there is no real reason to do it. Why not use that to add a boss or powerups?

Add a score/health/kill tracking or something and I think you might be able to pass this off as a "game". So far, it's barely more than a proof of concept.

Anyhow, with all that said, this may be bottom of the barrel work, but there is always room for improvement.

Open-sketchbook responds:

MY PROGRAMMING SKILLS SUCK!

Not very polished.

The title image saved this from gottting an even lower score. That said, the title doesn't really add much.

The game was pretty easy, and you can cheat by just quickly jumping across the thin lines to make big strides advancing towards the end.

All in all this game is a good idea, but it's been done enough that you have to make something much more polished than this to get any attention.

Simple, but nicely done.

I liked this game. It is quite simple, but the Flash work is pretty good so it all evens out nicely.

I see a lot of potential to add new features in this game. Having more than one enemy and weapon type at higher levels would be a great addition. As it is now, it quickly gets repetitive and dull.

Spice it up with some more features and you'll have a really great piece.

It is naive to think you can change people. It is equally naive to think you shouldn't try.
