Average.

Pong is a pretty basic game and this rendition covers most of the basic angles.

The artistic style is pretty neat, but the sound leaves a lot to be desired. A crunching bone sound or crackling fire ambiance or something would have been nice.

I also noticed that you can sit in one spot and win. It might be better if the skull started at different random angles when it appears.

Overall, this is a neat idea ... even if Pong has been done to death already. (Ha ha)

yup. i guess i didn't really think this
one through all too much. thanks tho!

Sweet.

This is what more gamesshould be like. Simple, classy, old school. Nice.

Quite diversified, but rather slow.

This is a neat game beause of all the cutscenes. I like the combinations of the two and the different types of game cmponents involved. The story is pretty good and the action is easy to understand and play.

My big gripe is that the cutscenes and animation are waaaay too slow. Everything appears to happen in slow motion. I can understand why some other viewers didn't even make it past the intro which was unnecessarily long.

Also, I don't think you should set the quality for the viewer so much. Just once at the beginning of the movie is enough. I had to keep resetting it to low to help speed up the animation.

A bigger "next" button for conversations would be a welcome addition too. (Or if the space bar could double a pressing the button.)

Anyhow, this is great work, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I look forward to the second part.

Super job on a really great, simple game.

You've done a great job creating a simple, yet very polished game. I really enjoyed it, although I did note a few issues.

One, the loading bar goes way past the loading bar border on your preloader. Then when loaded, it pops back to 100%.

Two, the "Play Again" button at the end only replays the credits. Shouldn't that send you back to the menu? Currently there is no way to play again after viewing the credits.

Finally, (and this is more of a pet peeve than a real problem) the mstery meat navigation is probably a bad call. Sure, mousing over the buttons and having what they do appear somewhere else is sorta cool. However, it detracts from the usability and makes it rather difficult to use the menu. Put some text on the buttons to help players out and keep the fade-in explanations of them.

Anyhow, great job on this game. The music graphics, animation, interativity and scripting are top notch. Well done.

Thanx, A wise man once said "The simplest games are the best". Well, noone said that... But it's kinda true! Yes, the loading bar goes beyond its limit, but I don't really care, because I find it funnier this way :P

And I wasn't aware of that "Play again" error, but thanx for telling me!

And I tried putting text on the buttons, but it wasn't readable. Then I tried putting the first letter on the buttons, but it just got unstylish... so, I guess people will have to spend the 15 secons it takes to read all the buttons... Thanx for all other things and the review!

A well done adventure!

I have never been fond of "clock" movies. All those CG voices and simple animation tend to get old fast.

However, this game was pretty good. It actually wasn't very complex due to the ending and limited branching dialog. None the less, I really liked it. It's nice to see something a little different like this once in a while.

The artistic style was pretty good, if a little short on contrast. I also enjoyed the two very fitting pieces of piano music.

I would guess the file size could be dropped considerably by removing the voice overs. I know they are standard fare for clocks, but they aren't really needed THAT much. A little "continue" button next to the text would have been a handy addition.

Anyhow, keep up the good work. I look forward to more!

Near perfect.

Finally a game/movie that shows Bush doing what he has been doing for so long now: kicking ass and taking names! Thank you for that.

Love him or hate him, this is a great game. I really liked that the bullet holes/bodies persisted instead of fading away. Nice. I also enjoyed shooting everything I could just to see how it would break. That was a great touch.

I want more!!

Middle of the road game.

Nothing too fancy here. It's a good enough game, but it becomes quite repetitive quite quickly.

In order increase the fun factor, you may want to think about adding either more obstacle types or more weapons. Also, I think the weapons should probably be spaced out a little more because currently it appears you can get the max power weapon in level 1 of the game. I think that's just too quick and then leaves the player with no more new stuff to discover.

Also, it would be nice to see the different levels have a little more meaning than slightly smaller asteroids that jiggle a bit more erratically than before. As noted above, new obstacles types, or some enemies would be a great addition.

Obviously not every game can be super cool, so you may not ever add to this one, but I think it has lots of potential.

Okay but not great.

More importantly than a replay button (which would also be nice), I think the game needs a little more work on the fun factor.

This game has a good enough concept, but it played a little slow. Either the code needs some optimization to run faster or you need to up the frame rate or bullet speed. I felt like I was rolling bowling balls at the people, not firing bullets.

It also got very repetitive very quickly. I think reducing the number of bullets to around 50 or so would help this. Then you could have multiple levels with fewer and fewer rounds allowed per level. Maybe you could have to shoot a certain number of people per level to advance. You could also add power ups or something to spice up the game.

Anyhow, its a good start. I hope you stick with it.

binaryflow responds:

i agree 100%.. i spent an hour or two re-writing the code tonight before submitting it so it would run fast, and because of it what you suggested is now possible.. i was thinking of buying more turrets, things like that.. thanks for the constructive review.. i think i will continue with this project..

Beatifully crafted.

This game looks fantastic. From what I saw this has the makings of a veritable feast of gaming goodness. Now if only I had a fast enough computer to play it on. It moves at a dreadful crawl on my PII 300. I guess now I have yet another good reason to upgrade.

I look forward to the full game.

A good game with room to grow.

This is a cool game! I really like the style and the responsiveness of the car. The mini-game where you can have a little fisticuffs was a great addition too.

I would love to see each opponent car have it's own damage meter rather than just a communal one for all of them. Some powerups (like a wrench for health or something) would be pretty cool too.

Anyhow, great work. I hope you keep making more games.

It is naive to think you can change people. It is equally naive to think you shouldn't try.
