Blah.

Apart from the humdrum plot, boring "action", text too fast to read, terrible dialog, numerous misspellings, lack of artistic consistency, and dull music it wasn't too bad.

All in all, it's actually pretty average for a sprite movie. They nearly all tend to suffer from these same problems.

Thanks for the review this was my first sprite movie, I know i could have done better on it

Not super proessional, but ...

... funny as hell.

I love the woman in the movie theatre. That was classic. Even better is the final "It sounded good in my head." remark. I bet 90% of flash on newgrounds falls into that category.

From a technical standpoint this movie was less than perfect. The sound seems a little too compressed and the animation and art were simple (but still pretty good). The plot was alright, but not super great.

All that aside, though. I almost split a gut laughing. Well done.

Great art, bad "plot"

I guess this movie was not supposed to have a "plot" per se, but instead was more of an introduction to all the characters.

Still, I found the speed of most of the clips to be far too fast to really tell who the characters even were or what they looked like. Being able to discern what they were doing or even read their names was even more difficult in many instances.

Work on your timing and I think you'll have something great. The art is very well done.

skotsoad responds:

yeah sorry bout that but the clip only goes for like 70 seconds so and it was all improvised while I was making it,but the first episode wont take too long to make so yeah and stuff.

Nice animation!

On a whole this movie is pretty much average in many ways. The storyline is nothing new. The art is good, but plain. The sound is average. The fight is about what would be expected of any DBZ style fight by uber-mega-energy-wielding-sayan-types.

The one thing that really struck me as original is the use of voice acting that utilizes some other language and subtitles to show what is being said. That part was really cool.

Anyhow, don't take this review the wrong way. "Average" is actually better than about 75% of the stuff on the Portal.

Uh, you're losing me.

You are not losing me because I don't know what's going on. I do. I have watched all the Zomborg movies an enjoyed them all.

You are losing me because the movies are becoming too danged short. When the title screen fade in/out is almost longer than the movie itself, I think it's time to add more before uploading the piece.

Once again, your work is great, but just too damned short.

*sigh*

SPLANKGY responds:

ok. i'm gonna make a longer episode.
but don't complain if it takes longer
than a week to get done ;)
thanks though!

Very nice ... as usual.

These were great movies as usual. The style, art, animation, and stories were very well done. If you don't like one, there are always several others to pick from. :-)

I do have one small complaint. Please either don't protect the movie or offer a quality button. Some of us have slow computers and REALLY need to be able to change the quality setting to low to view these things the way they were meant to be. Low frame rates take a lot out of them.

Keep up the great work.

Nice movie, but boring.

This movie is very well done. I found the art, style, animation and sound to be top notch. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of energy or action in the script. Sure the movie looks great, but I got bored with it after a short time and decided instead to work on decoding the tiny message in the bottom corner of the TV screens. No really. "Property of Empire One Studios." That's how bored I became.

So, all in all. This movie is probably front page material. I just wish it had been a little more interesting. Adding some kind of action besides stuff moving around in the background would have been nice.

Despite my wants and desires for it, it's still very good work.

WOW!

This movie is very reminiscent of the Sesame Street musical pieces where some guy sneezes, and then you hear a chair squeak and then a dog bark and all the sounds add up and turn into a nifty song. Only this was much cooler with volume and cut effects added in. Bravo!

Excellent ... in a strange way.

Heh heh. Irate pi-rate. Heh.

So anyhow, this was quite clever. Few people are able to create an intentionally "lame" movie that is actually funny. Somehow you managed to do it.

I think the key to your success is the good quality in the art and sound. The animation is simple, but still sufficient.

I like the little photo montage intro poem thingy. It had me expecting one thing, and then the actual Whitmore movies were something completely different. Nice.

My one complaint is the large number of sub-plots and plot twists all melded together into such an intricate and convoluted tapestry. I had a really hard time keeping eveything straight. Maybe you could simplify things a little bit for us cretins. :-)

Why bother with an Alpha of this?

When I read in the authors comments that entioned this movie had an alpha, I was expecting something great. Unfortunately, I am disappointed by the final product.

Aside from the walk cycle for the swordsman, the art and animation is just not very good. The music and sound effects leave much room for improvement. The story is ever so banal it's barely even a story.

Sorry, man. You probably put a lot of work into this, but it's just not very high quality, IMHO.

wallpaperman responds:

just cuz it has an alpha dont make it front page material straight away, thanks for long review though

It is naive to think you can change people. It is equally naive to think you shouldn't try.
