Dull and uninspired

The credits were the best part.

Wizard-Lock responds:

Your self inflicted wound incapacitates you.

You are eaten alive.

Wow!

There is no really good way to say this, but I usually don't care for your work.

This, however, was fantastic. The movement was very clean and the animation quite smooth. It really matched the feel of the music quite well. I loved the "Plimptoon" feel that was exuded throughout the piece.

Well done!

Sexual-Lobster responds:

thanks, but that's ok, my usual stuff does not have broad appeal, i have to admit i have no idea what plimptoon is though

A thought provoking piece.

I must say I was truly surprised and impressed by this piece being on Newgrounds at all. I never expect to see something around here with a really positive, thought provoking, quality, moral message to it. When you consider that most Newgrounders fall into a younger demographic, it's surprising when it happens. That being said, I think this is a perfect location for such a piece. Admins take notice: it will be a shame if this doesn't make it to the front page.

The art and animation are very well done and I enjoyed the music choice as well. Overall, this is a piece of top notch work.

I have been an avid church-goer for only the last 18 months or so. I think I fall into the same trap as many young people in terms of the here-after. I don't know what I truly believe yet, but I do know what I *want* to believe. This movie helps me to continue thinking about all the possibilities of what was, is, and may be. Good work.

Godlimations responds:

cool! thanks for your positive comment!

An interesting idea.

Ok, so let me get this straight. I watch your movie, then click on a country's flag and pay a dollar to have my click recorded? No thanks.

It's a good idea, but it's not worth a buck. If there was at least a game involved that might make it worthwhile. Perhaps users should have to make a goal and then they get to record the goal for free or half price.

Oh well. I can only pray that the proceeds are going towards something worthwhile (read "charity").

Scorer responds:

Thanks for your review, some good points for once. No, the flags take you through to a site where people can view how scoring is going and choose to buy a goal for their country or not. Just a silly idea I had, for a way of getting serious voters and for not having mass-voting by one person. Only devoted fans may vote! Thanks anyhows.

A good piece with a good point.

Nice work on this project.

Good work on the movement, camera angles, and overall story. I really likes how Grey painted himself. It was really smooth and worked well. I also really liked the choice of music that help set the mood and didn't seem to interfere with the story.

The point was made pretty clearly in this movie. I would have liked a slightly less sexualized ending ... perhaps with only a hug. I feel that would get the point across just as well and seems more appropriate for strangers.

Also, I found the closed captioning a bit annoying. It would have been much more poignant if the characters didn't have mouths at all and simply made gestures to get across their points. That would save the user having to "read tv" and would allow (force) a lot more emotion into the characters and overall movie.

Lastly, I have a recommendation that could be applied to almost all clay movies seen on Newgrounds. Use a background. Something, anything, other than the ubiquitous table in some guy's bedroom with a computer in the background. That just completely kills the mood you are trying to set.

In summary, this is a very well done clay movie. There is a good (albeit simple) plot with a good moral and a good final resolution.

GAMECUBICLE responds:

Thanks, i'll do something with this.

it was kinda hard to explain the story without text, so thats why i did do it.. :(

And this will probably be one of my last without a background, but the point in this movie was that the man was made from clay (else he couldnt pain himself :P) so this is like a good environment for clay to live in or something.

Next time i will probably do 3d backgrounds (using 3dmax or maya)

Thanks :)

Funny.

KHAN!!!!!!! HA HA HA HA HA!

Wonchop responds:

SOULS!!!!

Superb work!

I really liked this piece. The style and art were very professional and enjoyable. I also liked the fact that no narrative was needed to tell the story. The music was super cool and fit the mood very well too. Good choice. The only thing hat bugged me, and this is nitpicky, is that the robot walked by swinging the same side arm and leg at the same time. I don't know how a biped would ever stay upright if he moved like that. But it is a robot after all, so what do I know?

BlackmarketKraig responds:

Haha! Man, I feel stupid now! :P
I KNEW something was wrong but I just couldn't put my finger on it...

Oh well, thanks for reviewing, and thanks for the 10!

Simply amazing!

I was going to write a short joke review that said "Um ... there aren't sounds in space.", but the sarcasm probably wouldn't come across right. Instead I am going to bow down to this astounding movie and pray that you continue making work of this caliber.

I loved fricken' everything about this movie. Honestly; there is almost nothing about this movie that I don't like.

The style is fantastic. I really feel like I'm watching a full 3D film here. Amazing!

The animation is smooth, and for the most part, realistic. I think some of the movements are representative of ships maneuvering in an atmosphere, but that is incredibly nitpicky considering the scope of this work.

The camera angles are superb. I really felt like I was part of the action whether it be a pilot's view or omniscient observer. Showing rounds flying toward and past the camera was great.

The sounds are top notch and fit perfectly with the action (Yeah, yeah. No sounds in space. It's artistic liscence). I loved the choice of music too. It added a fantastic overall tempo to this movie. The voice acting was also very well done.

The story is short, but complete. I don't think adding more story to this would particularly help the movie as it currently stands. Even the mini plotline with the wounded (turned kamikaze) fighter was great. It wasn't too much, but just enough to make you feel for him (despite being a "bad guy").

From a technical perspective, this movie appeared very well informed. The HUDs used in the fighters were great and looked like they could be real. The weaponry, tracer rounds, and homing missiles were all superbly done. Also, the ability to skip forward and backward by scenes is a great addition.

I guess my only reasonable gripe would have to be the pilot looked oddly drawn compared to the rest of art. The textured ships and background really set a mood, and the pilot's style broke that feeling.

But hey. That little nitpick doesn't reduce the score. This work is amazing. I only hope I can someday create something this good! Bravo!

McFretN responds:

"Artistic licence" I like that. I know that you cant hear sound in space, but i had to put in sounds because it makes the overall experience so much better. As for the pilot, i know he would be criticized. The thing is that my Character drawings skill will never be on the same level as my animation skills. I actually hated having to draw that guy because i had no idea how to give him the same style. Thanks for the lenghty review. i enjoyed reading it

Dull.

Although the content of this flash is pretty much right on the mark, the carry-off is really dull.

I would like to have seen some better graphics, something interesting in the background, better animation and, frankly, a non-lock character. Locks are very easy to animate with simple old squash and stretch tweens. Put a little more time in and at least give the character some reasonable animation for goodness sake.

Overall score: Meh.

JujubeLock responds:

Alright, considering that I am going to be an author with a decent reputation, I should probably break out of old habits.

Admittedly, I know I am not a great flash artist and I am probably going to take some courses when I get back to college so I can have some skills.

Thanks for being honest in a respectable manner. :)

Yeeeehaaawww! Zomborgs ho!

Very cool man! The new title is great. The graphics are nicely done as usual.

I love the scene when the zomborg starts growing back his arm. That was super cool. and very well done.

Somehow I get the feeling our heros will be let into the prison and whatever is coming through the woods will not ... (but only just not).

It would be nice to either have a longer background sound loop or some different ones because the one sound gets a little grating by the end of the movie.

Oh, and by the way, I asked the psychic zomborg if there would be another episode. He said "yes", so it must be true, right? :-)

SPLANKGY responds:

tis true! there will be another episode! I'm glad you liked it dude!

It is naive to think you can change people. It is equally naive to think you shouldn't try.
