What were you smokin'?

Ummm ... I don't know what that was all about, but I'm laughing anyhow. The guy's voice is hilarious although I'm not exactly sure what he said.

Commando-Cheese responds:

neither do I lol. See what happens when you mess around with sound recorder.
<('-'<) <(~'-'~)> (>'-')> Kirby Dance!

Fantastic art and motion ... but needs sound.

This is an excellent film! The camera angles added so much that many movies here just don't address.

Unfortunately, there is a huge hole due to the lack of sound. My suggestion is to team up with a sound person at school and make some great movies together!

jonathanlo responds:

thanx, guys, for all your inputs. yeah, i agree, without sound oldman@night does seem a lack of something. i'll try to add some sound if i'll get the time to do it. thanx a lot for your reviews, keep them coming! and i'll try to come up with a new short soon :)

A good song, but a lousy movie.

This movie has about one fifth of the energy the song has. They just don't fit one another. It's not a good idea to attempt thsi video since South Park already did the "What would Brian Boitano do?" music video and it was great.

You're not going to top theirs, why even try? How about some music that doesn't have a great video for it already?

ZidaneX responds:

I respect your opinion about the movie, but it wasn't really meant to top the south park video. If you noticed, I used only real pics of boitano. The humor involved is that you don't need to draw him in a funny way to actually laugh at him. Some of his actions are pretty hilarious on their own. Also, theres the actual message board post I found. If you noticed, I circled the What would Brian Boitano Do part of it and left the viewer to see the negative comment which was pretty funny on its own. Me being seemingly oblivious to this as well as the fact that I was making Boitano out to be some kind of superhero was where the humor was intended to be.

4,000 hours?

I hope you misplaced a decimal point in there somewhere. 4,000 hours = 2 years of 5 days a week at 8 hours a day. I really doubt that you put this much time into this. 40 hours I would accept ... maybe even believe.

Anyhow, I think the movie was pretty cool. The animation was funny and smooth. I wasn't expecting the guy to blow hmself up, I thought he was going to suck his thumb and cry. :-) Pretty funny.

Backflip responds:

Yes, 4000 hours, but i worked on it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so really it only took a few months.

Very nice.

I like the art a lot in this movie. The transitions and movement are very good also.

I must admit I thought the title sat there a little too long. Perhaps you were padding the movie since it is quite short. Or maybe you wanted to give people enough time to read the title, but I think half the time would be adequate.

Anyhow, I like this movie very much, but I confess I don't think I will ever get "it". Sigh.

StenFLASH responds:

Title: I guess I was trying to build some suspense to surprise the viewer when the bullet's hit the title screen. Didn't work I suppose. It is a little long though isn't it? heheh

Voltron remake?

I am guessing you are trying to copy the style of old cartoons like Voltron. If that is the case, I applaud your first attempt. It has a lot of the same stylistic effects: repeated graphical events, low movement, and choppy storylines. The music is good and helped me to sit throguh the whole thing.

BTW, who was that at the end that Patrick was asking forgiveness from? I wanted to see, but I couldn't bear to watch the whole thing again just to find out.

Keep trying.

RocksuneJustice responds:

well its part of the story that forgiveness thing that'll be revealed in the second episode

But now I'd like to address all the retards that thought I tried to rip Gundam Wing and get away with it. First off, thats a STUPID STUPID idea right off the bat, as its a popular show and a lot of people will recognize it, but thats the point, because its a parody.

OH MY GOD.this a PARODY u fucking morons, its supposed to be alike, no SHIT its like gundam wing, oh my fucking god, the stupidity of some of u people disgusts me. This movie is going down slowly because of the select few morons like you that dont know what a fucking parody is. Buy a dictionary and some brain cells for shits sake. And for those of u who dont know what gundam wing is, dont even TRY to associate this with anything else, power rangers, ultraman, whatever the fuck.

I dare say it was.

What a great movie. It even had all the parts of a movie including outtakes! I love it! The film noir and absence of speech made this a very interesting piece. I like the smoke trails which I assume took a long time to do. The facial expressions also were very good (albeit sometiems a little odd). I hope you continue to put the time into makeing movies as good as this one.

The only thing I can't figure out about it is the swirling stars at the beginning. Is this is place of some other reason for the character being at a bistro?

smokeshow responds:

haha yes the stars... i'm surprised you noticed.. there is more to the story... feew people will find it, you have to pay close attention!!!! it isn't what it seems,.... well they arn't exactly stars!! they are somthenelse... i'll lket people figure it out :)

That is some amuzing crap you've got there.

Seriously though. I don't know what makes this Whak series so funny, but somehoe I find myself chukling along to it. I think it's the timing (I.E. Whak's "Hey you guy", "What? Auuughhh!" and What 2's when Mr Roper decides to just up and shoot the kid all of a sudden.)

Anyhow, I think everyone will agree that the sound quality is really lacking despite how good the writing may be. The art and animation is great too even if the thing really doesn't make any damn sense at all. Keep it up.

SuperJoe responds:

If only I had another microphone. And the good sense to develope a serious plot, that would take more than a half a minute.
Maybe I'll try to make Whak three make more sense...ish.

Needs sound and better "next button"

Some sound would be great, but the basic movie so far is pretty good. Also, it'd be nice to see the "next" arrow down in the corner rather than having to chase it all over the screen to get to the next scene.

gerry-productions responds:

Bah Humbug to your silly Nitwit overall 3.

And a thankyou to the whole corner next button EVEN BETTER IT WILL BE NOT ONLY IN THE CORNER BUT ALSO YOU CAN JUST PRESS ENTER! Woo Hoo

It is naive to think you can change people. It is equally naive to think you shouldn't try.
